Using Bronwyn Hemus’s “A 3-Minute Guide to the Snowflake Method by Randy Ingermanson” and an audio clip of Randy guiding a writer’s discovery on how to use the method, Word & Pen member Ruth Schmeckpeper acquainted those present at the March 9 meeting with Ingermanson’s remarkable novel plotting tool.
In addition to Ruth, members present included Kris O, Kathi B, Marilyn H, Chris S, Diane P, Deb S, and Beth Z, new guest Matthew B and returning guest Donna L. Deb renewed her membership for 2015, and Donna joined Word & Pen.
Diane provided refreshments and opened the meeting with prayer. Because we had a new guest, our facilitator Chris read the purpose of Word & Pen Christian Writers. Kathi then set the inspirational tone for the meeting with her original devotional, “Writing from Emptiness to Glory.” The 500-word piece addressed facing the formidable blank page by writing “whatever brings glory to God the Creator, the King of all the heavens and earth!” This sparked a lively discussion.
Following Ruth’s excellent educational, everyone took turns introducing themselves and reporting on their writing progress since the last meeting. Diane and Kathi chose to share their delightful pieces, using Chris’s March challenge (to be written in Dr. Suess style): “Suppose you found an abandoned tote bag on the ground near your car. (We’ll assume it has no bomb or such dangerous motive.) When you open it, what do you find?” What creativity!
Diane then closed another successful meeting with prayer for the needs of members.
